Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee and Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, George Amoako says he is optimistic that the newly appointed Black Stars coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor will succeed as coach of the senior national team.

According to the GFA Executive Council member, people should stop making up stories that seem to suggest he and Akonnor had a problem when the ex-Ghana captain was coach of Asante Kotoko a few months ago.

He added that even if that was the case, both of them are now in a different environment to work for the nation and not a club.

In an interview with the Kumasi based Nhyira FM, he hinted that he has never doubted the competence of the new Black Stars coach and thinks with the needed support, he will deliver.

"The environment we find ourselves is not the same, they are two different environments. To be honest I don't doubt the competence of coach CK Akonnor. I do not have that doubt at all"

"I trust he has the competencies to work as a football coach so let’s given him the needed support and he will be able to succeed, “ he added.
