Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has opened up on his experience playing under coach Otto Addo.

Ashimeru, who made his international debut in 2021 against South Africa, had to wait two years for another opportunity to don the Black Stars jersey.

However, since late 2023, the former WAFA midfielder has become a key figure in the national team, featuring in eight of the last twelve matches.

His first appearance under Otto Addo came during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

In an interview with Flashscore.com, Ashimeru expressed his excitement about working with the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach and his hopes for the team’s future.

"It feels really amazing to be able to be called because we have so many players out here in Ghana," the midfielder said.

"Working with Otto Addo is something I've been waiting for a long time. Having the time to work with him, I can say he's a good coach and I feel like we have so many things to achieve together. It feels good to work with him," he added.

Otto Addo, who was reappointed in March on a 34-month contract, with an option to extend for another 24 months, will hope to record his first win of the AFCON qualifiers as the Black Stars' back-to-back game against Sudan next month after a difficult start.
