I did not influence my son - Manso

Ex Ghana star Frimpong Manso insists he did not influence his son, Edwin Tuffour into ditching Hearts of Oak to sign for Asante Kotoko.

The former Liberty Professionals has joined the Porcupine Warriors on a three-year deal. Kotoko won the chase on rivals Hearts of Oak to land Edwin Tuffour who is the son of one of their club legends, Frimpong Manso.

There are beliefs that Tuffour’s move to Kotoko instead of Hearts was heavily influenced by his father who remains a cult figure at the Kumasi-based club. But Frimpong Manso insists his son’s decision to ditch Hearts for Kotoko was of his no doing.

“My son chose Kotoko with no influence from me,” he told Happy FM. “We had discussions with Hearts but he preferred to play for Kotoko. “I don’t want to go into details but I am sure the Hearts officials who were involved in the prospective deal know the truth that I was opened to the option of my son playing for Hearts. “He perhaps wanted to go back home as he had some challenges being in Accra, maybe that is why he decided to join Kotoko.” Edwin Tuffour emerged as one of the breakaway performers for Liberty Professionals last season.

He is expected to be the replacement for Abeiku Ainooson who has departed for Sudanese club Al Hilal at Kotoko.
