Libyan Embassy donates spraying equipment to GARCC

Accra, July 9, GNA - The Libyan Embassy on Monday presented mosquito spraying equipment and vaccines worth two million dollars to the Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council (GARCC). The equipment, included two mixed blowers, a quantity of insecticides, 200 pieces of hand sprayers, 80 pieces of Knapsack equipment and 130 bags of protective gears. Mr. Mohammed Gamudi, Libyan Ambassador said the donation formed part of the embassy's commitment of ensuring that Accra and for that matter the country was freed of malaria infections.

He said the embassy was procuring vaccines for vaccinating over two million animals and called for further strengthening of the long time relationship between the two countries to ensure total development, adding; "We are also looking at other areas of co-operation,". Mr. Sheik I. C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister said the donation was a fulfillment of a long time dream to clear the city of mosquitoes and other insects injurious to humans.

He said the equipment would be distributed to the sub-metros to be used on 120 breeding sites within the Accra and Tema metropolis. Sheik Quaye called on other philanthropists to emulate the gesture by donating insecticides and vehicles for the operational work.

He expressed gratitude to the Libyan government for the gesture and noted that it would further heighten the trust and confidence Ghana had in Libya. 09 July 07
