I bought my first boot for GH¢1.20

Black Satellite and Anderlecht FIFA U-20 prodigy, Frank Acheampong has narrated his journey to stardom.

Acheampong said his determination as to becoming successful as a young footballer spurred him to sell cold (iced) water to buy his first Puma football boot at the age of 12.

“The first day I bought the boot, I wore it to school, a distance of a mile. I also took it to church,” he said.

The former Buruyam United player explained that he sometimes had to polish the boot to make it look new all the time since that was the only boot he had.

“As a training college teacher, I went through huge challenges during my formative years as a footballer with no help from anyone.

“I almost quit football to concentrate on my education because I had no help,” he recounted.

Frank Acheampong still holds the record as the highest signing ever (1 million euros) to emerge from the Thai league to Anderlecht in Belgium.

It could be recalled that Frank Acheampong was an integral part of the Black Satellites team that won bronze at the just ended FIFA U-20 tournament in Turkey.

His late winner cross, which earned the winning goal against Chile would always be remembered.
