Nigeria Supporters Club To Storm Accra

The Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) has vowed to turn the Ghana-Nigeria world cup qualifier on March 11 in Accra to a carnival-like encounter, a situation which the club believes would stop Ghanaians from turning the match into a do-or-die affair.

The president general of the supporters club Dr. Rafiu Ladipo told newsmen in Lagos that his club would storm Accra with nothing less than 500 active members, who have the assignment to cheer the Eagles from the blast of the whistle to the last minute of the game. Dr. Ladipo hinted that he has sent messages to NFSC members in all the neighbouring countries around Ghana, to storm Accra in their numbers on Sunday. He said Liberia's victory over Ghana in Accra is a clear indication that Nigeria too can upset Ghana in front of their home crowd, but warned that the Super Eagles should not look for an outright win in Accra.

"A draw is ok for us. Such result will still leave us on top, and we assure the Eagles that they will get maximum support because we are storming Accra for that crucial game," Dr. Ladipo said.

The president -general noted that Nigeria which after the USA '94 broke into the class of world cup finalist will continue to qualify for the world cup, adding that 2002 won't be an exception. The 3-0 spanking of the Sudan in Port Harcourt was an omen giving full confirmation that Nigeria will surely be in Korea, Dr. Ladipo said.
