Hohoe United withdraw from Ghana Premier League - Reports

Hohoe United FC have announced their withdrawal from the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, citing concerns over officiating standards and disciplinary sanctions imposed on the club.

The decision was taken after an emergency board meeting, with the club stating that recent developments surrounding refereeing decisions and sanctions have created an environment they believe is unfair to the team.

Hohoe United currently sit in the relegation zone with 30 points from 27 matches, and their withdrawal comes at a critical stage of the season.
The development follows disciplinary action taken by the Ghana Football Association earlier in March 2026.

The GFA’s Disciplinary Committee handed Hohoe United a three-match home ban and fined the club GH¢30,000 after incidents that occurred during their Ghana Premier League clash with Vision FC in February 2026.

According to the ruling, Hohoe United were found guilty of failing to guarantee the safety of match officials, allowing unauthorised individuals to enter restricted areas, and failing to control supporters who threw objects onto the field of play during the match.

The sanctions took immediate effect, while the club was given 14 days to settle the fine.

In addition to the punishment, the Disciplinary Committee issued a stern warning that any further misconduct could attract even more severe sanctions.

However, Hohoe United’s leadership believes the sanctions, coupled with what they describe as questionable officiating decisions throughout the season, have made it difficult for the club to continue competing under the current circumstances.
