Hockey Umpire Attipoe Attain Grade 1 Status

Ghana’s outdoor international umpire Richmond Attipoe was promoted to the rank of outdoor Grade 1 after a great performance at the just ended African Hockey Olympic Qualifier held in Nairobi, Kenya.

According to the communication received from the Umpiring Committee of World Hockey, Attipoe’s performance earned him marks that took him from the current rank of a Promising Umpire to a Grade 1 Umpire. What this means is that Attipoe can be appointed to any event as a neutral umpire and his appointments to any tournament to a large extent will be done by the World body.

In attaining this Grade, Attipoe has two more Grades to move to attain the World Panel status which is the highest in the grading system.

Attipoe’s rapid rise has been attributed to hard work, dedication, discipline and the desire to learn constantly. He has been appointed to officiate at the 7th Asia Cup to be held in Chennai India in September as a neutral umpire.

The GHA wishes him well on his upgrading and encourage him to continue to be a great ambassador for our country.
