Hockey Team Superior to Ghana - Coach

In spite of pulling a 1-1 draw in their second match at the 8th All Africa Games on Wednesday, chief coach of Nigeria's male hockey team, Nak Babas, believes his team outplayed Ghana in all departments of the game.

Babas said, after the Nigerians managed the draw at the Abuja stadium, that the players improved on their previous outing in which they bowed 1-4 to South Africa.

He promised they would display a spectacular performance in their subsequent two matches to remain in contention.

The Nigerians woke up from their slumber, struggling to a 1-1 draw with their Ghanaian counterparts, who had taken the lead in the second half.

The duo of Joseph Appiah and Gad Oblittey rattled Nigeria's defence until it collapsed due to a powerful flick by Appiah in the 56th minute.

The ovation that greeted the goal had not ended when Nigeria's Auwalu Lamido levelled up with a stylish flick in the 58th minute.

With six points from two matches, South Africa has maintained the lead in the male category, while Egypt is trailing with three points from two matches.

Both Nigeria and Ghana shared equal points even though Ghana was yet to play a second match.
