His age doesn't correspond with his intelligence - Kotoko chief slams Clottey

Lawyer Sarfo Duku, Asante Kotoko’s counsel in the Asante Kotoko-Emmanuel Clottey legal tussle has blatantly denied Kotoko tried to bribe Clottey for an out of court settlement.

According to the two time Ghana Premier League top scorer – Emmanuel Clottey – he sent the record holders of the country’s top-flight to court to pay the fine imposed on him by FIFA for unlawfully signing him back in 2015. But the Accra-based court dismissed the case and ordered Clottey to pay a fine of GHS 5000 to Asante Kotoko.

Emmanuel Clottey, the player in a five-year legal tussle between Asante Kotoko and Esperance Sportive de Tunis revealed in an interview yesterday that the Kumasi-based outfit tried to give him money for an out of court settlement.

However, Lawyer Sarfo Duku the counsel in the legal battle with Emmanuel Clottey has denied the above-mentioned claims by the former Great Olympics forward.

“I do not want to say Emmanuel Clottey is unwise,it sound too strong but his level of appreciation of certain things is very low” he took a swipe at Clottey.

“I had always maintained Emmanuel Clottey has no case in his suit against us, how would I turn to bribe him for an out of court settlement?” Lawyer Sarfo Duku quizzed.

“Sometimes after sessions at the court room he will jovially tell us to get him some amount of money for an out of court settlement. In some few times I had to give him transportation fee back home,” he disclosed to Kumasi FM.

He continued: “Emmanuel Clottey from the beginning was ignorant of his own case and misled his lawyers. He didn’t understand the ruling from FIFA. The court had sympathy for him until we tendered in excess of twenty-three(23) documents, the court got a fair idea of the case afterwards,”

“Clottey is a fine player but lacks understanding in his own field, his age does not correspond with his intelligence,” he retorted.
