Hendrick Voted Kotoko's Best Player

2001 SWAG Defender of the Year and deputy captain of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Joseph Hendricks has won a poll conducted by the official sponsor of the club, Spacefon to determine the best Kotoko player for 2002.

Hendricks polled 30.39 per cent of the total votes cast to beat Michael Osei who polled 29.44 per cent. Stephen Oduro, Godwin Ablordey (now with King Faisal but present at the function) and Nana Arhin Duah appeared in that order. For his prize Hendricks received a cheque for five hundred dollars and a ticket to any European destination of his choice.

The organisers of the competition announced that there will be a hundred per cent increase in the prize money this season and urged all the players of the club to strive to win the money.

It was further announced that being the best player, Joseph Hendricks would be used as a corporate image of Spacefon. He was therefore to be of good character on and off the field of play.

In his acceptance speech, Joseph Hendricks expressed his joy at winning the award and urged his fellow players to do well to win it as well by putting up their best at all times. He promised to be disciplined and thanked Spacefon for the honour done him.
