Helegbe warns Hearts

...ahead of Sunday's clash

Kotoko playmaker Michael Helegbe has fired a warning to Hearts of Oak that they are on a mission to defeat the Phobians in Accra on Sunday.

The super clash between arch rivals in Accra tomorrow is Ghana’s biggest match of the season as Kotoko players are in high mood, believing they will win to lure disgruntled fans of the club.

After calling the bluff of stubborn Sekondi Eleven Wise on Sunday’s 2-1 thriller that saw Kotoko breezed into the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup competition, Michael Helegbe, who grabbed Kotoko’s two goals, says he and his colleagues are ready for Sunday.

Helegbe was full of praise for his colleagues for their spirited performance against Wise which he believes will boost them for the match with Hearts.

“The determination and spirited performance put up by the team shows the mentality we have now as we prepare for Hearts of Oak,” Helegbe told Kotoko’s official website.

“We normally play practice matches to get our strategies right before our big games. I can say that Eleven Wise provided the right tonic to get us in the right mood for our match on Sunday” said Helegbe.

“They tested us in all departments of the game. Our resolve and commitment to winning for our fans was amply displayed,” he added.

Helegbe described matches between Kotoko and Hearts as dicey as form guide normally did not matter. He was, however, quick to add that things will be different this time around.

“We are placed better on the league than them. We are also determined to have a different script written this year. We will be the better side and the eventual winners on the day. Our determination is high. Nothing would be allowed to stop us,” he stated.

With their intentions made clear, Helegbe had a word for Kotoko fans: “We are playing our matches in partnership with the fans so we will fall heavily on them for support and strength."
