Former Ghana Premier League player, Amankwah Mireku has revealed that clubs like Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko offer the biggest platform for players to display their talent.

Players who played for either Hearts of Oak or Asante Kotoko in times past received call ups into the national teams and also got better offers from clubs aboard compared to the others.

Amankwah Mireku who was a guest with Eric Bekoe on the special edition of Sports Check to preview the Super Clash between Hearts of Oak versus Asante Kotoko asserted that players who played for the two big clubs do not have any excuse not to perform to their best.

According to the former Hearts of Oak defender, the players of this generation are unaware of the kind of platform games like the Super Clash offer to them.

He further stressed that players who play for big clubs should have no room for complacency even if their club administration is going through financial difficulties.

“The most important thing is that it’s your job and you are rather telling the supporters that I was hungry, I was not being paid and so forth. If you have an excuse then there’s no need to wear the jersey at all,” Amankwah told Sports Check host Daniel Oduro.

The CAF Champions League winner reminisced how playing in the Super Clash was a fulfilment to him because of the euphoria and cheers from the supporters.

The Phobian legend caution players to give off their best to their clubs since there are other agents monitoring their performance.

"This is the biggest platform you can find in Ghana so you just have to deliver. Apart from that we the big men in the club also have their teams following us as fathers. Entering the stadium and the euphoria behind us is everything."

Amankwah tipped Hearts of Oak to defeat their rivals Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
