Hearts reject Confederations Cup slot

The Ghana Football Association has given Ghana’s second slot for the Caf Confederations Cup to Ebusua Dwarfs, Goal Ghana can confirm.

Dwarfs will now join Ghana MTN FA Cup winners Medeama in the inter-club competition of Africa.

Goal Ghana understands the football governing body of the country had wanted to give the slot to either Hearts of Oak or Amidaus Professionals – MTN FA Cup semi-finalists – after a playoff, but both Premier League clubs rejected the offer.

The Cape Coasters have expressed their readiness to participate in the competition and were given the slot after finishing fourth in last season’s Ghana Premier League.

“We have received an official notice from the FA. We are going to participate,” operations director of Dwarfs Ansah told Accra-based Joy FM.

Ghana league champions Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea will represent Ghana in the Caf Champions League next year.
