With Sogne Yacouba not spotted in the Kotoko squad that touched down at the Kotoka International Airport yesterday afternoon, the hopes of Asanteman and Kotoko fans across the world rest on a 16-year-old Matthew Anim Cudjoe.

Anim Cudjoe has become Kotoko’s latest sensation with his delightful footwork and blistering pace which has earned him the nickname ‘Messi’.

The build-up to this afternoon’s crunchy tie against Hearts of Oak has revolved around the youngster who looks set to have his first start of the season with Yacouba rumoured to be out of the game.

The decision to drop Yacouba from the match which further proves the friction between Kotoko and the want-away player has irked some of the fans.

For those Kotoko fans who fear Yacouba’s absence could spell doom for the club, these statements by former Hearts skipper Amankwah Mireku will further worsen your conditions.

Appearing on GhanaWeb’s Sports Check program, the CAF Confederation Cup winner said that the club has found a way to neutralize the threat of Anim Cudjoe.

He joked that the club has placed him under a table and the lad who according to his agent will have trials with Bayern Munich next two weeks will not come alive in today’s match.

“We have put him under a table. We have to silence him so spiritually he is done. Eric Bekoe knows. At times we put him under an umbrella so we have done it this time around”.

Eric Bekoe also urged fans of the club not to place too much pressure on the young lad.

He made known his admiration for the player but called for patience and time for him to mature.

“They should not over-burden the guy. He is a good player and with time he will come good but they should put too much pressure on him. Yacouba could decide Sunday’s match for us”.
