Hearts of Oak denied two players medals after 2004 Confed Cup triumph

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder, Eric Nyarko has expressed disappointment in the then management of the club having denied him together with teammate Dan Coleman a CAF Confederations Cup medals in 2004.

The rainbow boys beat their sworn rivals, Kotoko 8-7 on penalties after tying 2-2 on aggregate in front of their home fans at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Eric Nyarko recounting how he felt after winning the continental showpiece at the expense of Kotoko shockingly revealed that he did not receive a medal aftermath of the mouthwatering game in Kumasi.

Nyarko and Coleman despite playing instrumental roles in the club's confederations cup triumph did not receive medals as management overlooked them and this according to Nyarko worries him.

Prior to the second leg in Kumasi, both Eric Nyarko and Dan Coleman were suspended hence couldn’t play.

In an interview with Don Summer of Angel FM in Kumasi, Nyarko said, “In fact, I was worried for not playing in the grand finale but what pains me most is that Dan Coleman and I did not receive medals”

“Upon all that we did during the competition, the two of us did not get a medal and it is something that still hurts me. Hearts of Oak made me who I am today so I will not spew negativity against them”

“We reported to management after we didn’t get our medals and they told us they will give it to us but up to date we have not received it. I have nothing to show despite winning the cup with the club. It’s disturbing anytime I go through my medals and not seeing that of the confederations cup”

This is not the first time a former player of Hearts is complaining about a medal as former captain Amankwa Mireku recently claim he did not get his medal after the 2000 CAF Champions League triumph over Esperance de Tunis.
