Hearts of Oak clinch 3-year sponsorship agreement with MTN

Finder Sports’ exclusive investigations can reveal that Hearst of Oak have concluded negotiations for a three-year sponsorship deal with Ghana’s leading mobile network, Scancom Limited (MTN Ghana).

This comes as a major boost ahead of the next football season considering the fact that Hearts of Oak went through the whole of last season without a sponsor – a reason assigned for the team’s poor financial state at the recently held Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The deal with MTN vindicates top officials of Hearts of Oak who had assured fans that a mega sponsorship deal was in the offing.

Indeed, at the recently held AGM, Hearts Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV and the club’s CEO Fred Crentsil hinted that the club would soon announce a sponsorship deal.

The last time Hearts won the league, the club was sponsored by MTN, which provided the financial backbone for the club.

The three-year deal is estimated to be worth in the region of GH¢3 million. A public signing of the deal is due to take place this month.

In a related development, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko (both sponsored by MTN) are expected to play the MTN Super 2 Cup this month.
