Hearts commend Ghana's ambassador to Mali

Accra, March 10, GNA- Accra Hearts of Oak has expressed gratitude and deep appreciation to His Excellency, Mr Kwadwo Afoakwa Sarpong, Ghana's ambassador to the Republic of Mali for his support during the team's preliminary Champions league match against Stade de Malien played in Bamako, Mali at the weekend.

A statement signed by Mr Thomas Okine, chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the club said " we cherish with tender memories your diplomatic presence which ensured prompt and positive reaction to the adverse reactions of the management and supporters of the hone team, a situation that contributed to the goalless drawn game" he added.

Mr Okine said Hearts was appreciative of the support offered by the entire stuff at the embassy and hoped to count on them in future events. Hearts managed a convincing goalless drawn game with their opponents in an away game in Mali at the weekend where they played with nine players in the dying minutes of the game.

Hearts are scheduled to play the Malians in a return encounter in two weeks time and are in a good position to stay in contention by way of home advantage.
