The Accra Sports Stadium will once again come alive on November 20 when traditional rivals Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko lock horns in the first leg of the new Premier League season.
Week 7 of the new Premier League campaign which starts on October 9 will headline Ghana’s version of the El-Classico.
The two teams who have won a staggering 41 titles between them will be looking to recapture their past glory this year after fading out in recent couple of seasons.
In fact the last time either of the two won the league was in the 2008/2009 season where Hearts of Oak claimed their 20th league title.
Ghana’s two most glamorous clubs have often been out-bud to star names on the local scene during the recent transfer periods by new but wealthy clubs in Chelsea and Medeama – something that used to be exclusive to the two clubs.
However having made significant improvements to their respective playing squads following the largely disappointing season last term, fans are expectant of a better campaign this term which will hopefully result in the recapture of the prestigious Premier League crown.
Both teams have however agreed to engage each other in an unusual pre-season friendly on a home-and-away basis on proposed dates of 25th September and 2nd October.
