Hearts 2-1 Dwarfs - Two brilliant free kicks hands Phobians first win

Joseph Esso scored the first goal Joseph Esso scored the first goal

Joseph Esso and Kofi Kordzi’s brilliant free-kicks ensured Hearts of Oak picked their first win of the season.

Albert Ato Hammond’s grabbed a consolation for the visitors but it was not enough as the return to cape coast empty-handed.

Joseph Esso's brilliantly curled freekick put the under pressure Ghanaian giants in the lead on 30 minutes.

The Phobians had a couple of chances before the breakthrough after attackers Joseph Esso and Kwadwo Obeng had come close in the first fifteen minutes of the game.

The incessant pressure from the host forced Ebusua Dwarfs into making their first chance of the game after Isaac Donkor was brought on for Prince Kpodo in the 37th minute.

Hearts continued to dominate and went into the break with the solitary goal.

The Rainbow club returned from the break determined to get an early second to comfortably control the game.

Few minutes into the half, Kofi Kordzi won and expertly curled a free-kick to put the Phobians two goals up.

The Togolese striker bend in from just outside the box to put the game beyond the Crabs.

A poor clearance from Mohammed Alhassan from a long ball from Dwarfs saw Albert Ato Hammond take advantage of a one on one and he slide the ball past goalkeeper Richie Attah.

Buoyed by the consolation, Dwarfs were close to grabbing the equalizer after Amos Nkrumah’s was grabbed by Richie Attah.

The Phobians held on to win their first game of the season at the Accra sports stadium.
