Heart of Lions beat Gamba All Blacks

Kpando, May 28, GNA - In-form Kpando Heart of Lions on Wednesday beat Gamba All Blacks 2-1 in their 21st Week Onetouch Premier League encounter at the Kpando stadium.

It was Lions who started the match sluggishly soon after referees E. R. Biney whistled for the commencement of the game but had to wait till 20 minutes in the game when they raised the tempo of their play as they made dangerous incursions into the visitor's vital area. In one of their superlative pull-outs through the middle, lurking Osei Banahene beat the All Blacks goalie Ransford Kudjo to register the first goal in the 35th minute. Lions, as if incensed by the goal increased the pressure on their opponents with Banahene, Dominic Adiyiah and Abraham Annan tormenting the visitors.

The trio combined beautifully to earn a corner kick and was quickly taken by Annan, which was headed home by Adiyiah in the 45th minute for the second goal to end the first half on a good note for the home team. All Blacks resumed the second half strongly and succeeded in reducing the deficit in the 47th minute through Paul Appiah's close range shot during a defensive mix up.

In the 80th minute Lions Daniel Acquaye was sent off for dissent when he savagely fouled Michael Boakye of All Blacks. The game from then became balanced with occasional breaks and near misses till referee Biney brought proceedings to and end.
