Former Black Stars player, Asamoah Gyan, was full of joy after he reunited with his former teammate Aziz at Tamale.
The two had played together at Great Cedabs, a colt football club in Accra when they were just starting out as young footballers.
While Gyan went on to become a football star, cementing records such as Ghana's leading goal scorer, and achieving fame on the world stage, his old teammate's career took a different path.
In a TikTok video, Asamoah Gyan praised Aziz, describing him as one of the best defenders from their early days in football.
Despite their diverging paths, Gyan expressed happiness at seeing his former teammate again.
"He was my former teammate at colts level. A great defender. This guy was very strong, very strong, fast, he had everything. He was one of the best, but that's life, I'm happy to see him," the ex-Black Stars captain said.
Now working as a football coach, Aziz was also thrilled to meet Gyan.
"I feel very great meeting Asamoah Gyan. I didn't expect to see him here," Coach Aziz said.
Gyan's visit to Tamale was part of a tour to promote awareness for the upcoming All Regional Games, scheduled for June at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium at Kumasi.
The event aims to discover new talents for international tournaments.
