The deputy CEO of Sekondi Hasaacas, Joseph Ofori Acquah, has made a startling revelation to Starr Sports that about 60 percent of his players do not have passports.

The development has led to the delay of a pre-season tour of Malaysia. The Takoradi-based club was expected to honor an invitation to participate in a five-team pre-season tournament last month.

Organizers of the tournament are still waiting for a confirmation from the Ghanaian club, but the management of Hasaacas are shocked by this revelation.

“The confirmation of participation in the tournament had delayed because as professional footballers most of them don’t have passports.

"Even as an ordinary Ghanaian you should have a passport so in case of any emergency you could travel, we are shocked by this development and we are still working on it,” Acquah told Starr Sports.

Hasaacas finished 7th on the Ghana league table last season and have set an audacious target of breaking into the top-four next season.
