Happy FM Keep Fit festival for next week

Accra, Oct. 7, GNA – Accra-based Radio Station, Happy FM’s annual Keep Fit Festival is scheduled to come off at the El-Wak Stadium, Accra on Saturday, October 15.

The Festival built for health-conscious individuals and sports fans which has become an annual ritual for Keep Fit Clubs is the largest sports and exercise convocation in the country.

Charles Osei Asibey, General Manager of Happy FM told GNA Sports this year’s event, which is in partnership with Fidelity Bank’s ‘Reach for Gold’ campaign, will be opened by the Vice President, John Dramani Mahama.

He said the Festival will bring together the Ministers of Youth and Sports, Health, Employment and Social Welfare as well as officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and other stakeholders.

The General Manager said the Festival, which infuses fun and the spirit of camaraderie into the sporting activities, is meant to highlight the essence of physical activity in the daily lives of public and civil servants and its direct connection to the maintenance of good health.

About 147 Clubs are billed to participate in this year’s event under the theme ‘Eradicate Stroke through Keep Fitting’.

“The goal is to raise awareness about Stroke as a degenerative condition which can often be avoided by keen involvement in physical activity through the Festival and exercises, which is our little way of reaching out to our community and challenging them to lead healthier lives.’

The Festival, which is free to the general public, will see the various Clubs participating in track and field events, sack race, football, tug-of- peace, and lime and spoon competition amongst other events.

The event will be preceded by a route march from the Aviation Social Centre to the El-Wak Sports Stadium at 6am.

Winners of the various events will be handed cash prizes as well as trophies and medals.
