Handball fiesta opens on Friday 2 November 2001

Fierce battle for the coveted Franco- Ghana national handball championships title begins on Friday 2 November 2001 at the Prisons Sports Complex, Cantonments in Accra.

In all, eight male and female teams will vie for top honours in local handball in the two-day fiesta. The invited elite clubs for the competition are Handball clubs from the security services, members Ghana University Sports Association and HOSTAC H/C of Kaneshie Sports Complex, from Accra.

The competition, which is in its fourth year, is under the sponsorship of the French Embassy in Ghana and the Handball Association of Ghana. It is expected to set the tone for the penultimate of local handball tournaments scheduled for Kpando in the Volta Region in November 2001.

To make the competition more attractive, the organisers have decided to reverse upwards the cash prizes for deserving clubs and individuals.
