Greater Accra Hockey Gala takes place May 1

Accra, April 30, GNA - The Greater Accra Hockey Association will organize a gala competition on Saturday, May 1 at the National Hockey Stadium at Accra.

The one-day event heralds the Association's annual League, christened NDK Hockey League, which begins on May 8, 2010.

Frank Awuku, Chairman of the Greater Accra Hockey Association told GNA Sports on Friday that the gala is to fine-tune the preparations of the participating teams' for the annual League.

He said the gala has been segmented into three categories in the men, seniors and ladies divisions.

For the men's division, the participants include the Police, Golden Sticks, Legonite, Tema Youth, the National U-17 team, Real Ambassadors, Exchequers, Trustees, CEPS, La Juniors and Reformers. Citizens, Veterans, NDK and Multistix will compete in the seniors division while CEPS, Reformers, Extinguishers and Ark Ladies vie for honours in the Ladies event.

Awuku said the winners' in each division will be presented with glittering trophies. 30 April 10
