Government release funds to GTTA

Accra, March 17, GNA - The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has released 178 million cedis to the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) to enable them prepare for the impending 13th African Junior Table Tennis Championship.

The amount is to be used in preparing Ghana's team for the competition, which includes feeding, accommodation and equipment. Mr Emmanuel Kwabena Oteng- Aboagye General Secretary of the association said this in an interview with the GNA Sports on Wednesday. He said an amount of 118 million cedis was released to the association last Monday after they had received an initial instalment of 60 million cedis from the Ministry.

Mr Oteng - Aboagye said the association is putting the money into good use by ensuring that everything needed by the team is made available. He said this is to ensure that the players put up their maximum best in the championship.

The General Secretary said apart from 118 million cedis, the Ministry has also released 60 percent of the money needed for the renovation of the Accra Sports Stadium Hall, to be used as the venue for the event. He expressed the hope that both the players and the sports hall would be ready for use in due time for 13-day table tennis fiesta.

On the preparations of the team, Mr Oteng - Aboagye said the nature of preparations, zeal and enthusiasm being exhibited by the team is an indication that they will put up their best in the tournament.

He said the players are also having the best form of motivation and expressed the hope that Ghana will come out with not less than ten medals.
