Government approves US$8m budget for hosting of 2018 Women’s AFCON

Ghana's Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has disclosed that government has approved a US$ 8m budget for the hosting of the 2018 Women Africa Women's Cup of Nations.

Hon. Asiamah made the revelation at Tuesday’s meet the press which was held at Conference Hall of the Ministry of Information.

The allocated budget will be used for renovation of the Accra Sports Stadium, training pitches at El Wak and the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast.

'His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has approved an amount of US$8m for the hosting of the 2018 Africa Women's Championship,'' Asiamah disclosed

"That will be used for the renovation of the stadia and other training facilities to be used for the tournament.''

The 13th edition of the biennial international football championship organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the women's national teams of Africa, will be held in Ghana, from 17 November to 1 December 2018.
