Golf: 120 register for Achimota Captain\'s Prize

More than 120 golfers have so far registered for the Achimota Golf Club Captain\'s Prize competition scheduled to tee off at Achimota in Accra on Sunday, February 25.

Nana Atta Nyamekye, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, who is sponsoring the competition, announced this in Accra on Monday.

He said the one-day 18-hole stableford competition which has very attractive prizes at stake, is open to amateur and professional golfers from Achimota, Tema, Celebrity and Kumasi Golf Clubs.

Among the crack golfers who have registered for the competition, which has full handicap as entry qualification, are Victor Dandu, the defending champion, Mike Aggrey, J.F. Sam, Isaac Charamba, Kuzi Charamba and Felix Frempong, all from Achimota.

Twelve prizes will be awarded in the Men\'s event, eight for the Ladies and three for the professionals.

At Tema, Mr Felix Owusu Adjapong,Minister for Transport and Communications is among registered golfers who will be vying for the Tema Country Golf Club President\'s Putter on Sunday.

Other golfers expected to compete with the minister for the prestigious putter include J.N.K. Asempa, R. Adotey, H. Hagan, Lee Bruce and P.K. Amenyo. Mr K.E. Chinebuah, President of the Tema Country Golf Club ,is sponsoring the competition.
