Goldfields confirm faith in Stars

Accra, May 18, GNA - Goldfields Ghana Limited, headline sponsors of the Black Stars of Ghana has firmed their faith in the team's potential of excelling at the FIFA World Cup slated for South Africa next month. The Miners has therefore injected a whooping 560,000 dollars into the team's preparation for the quadrennial fiesta insisting the Black Stars brand which is the highest in the country could take the world by storm during the global showpiece that spans over a whole month. Mr Sven Lunsche, Corporate Affairs Manager said the package would go into team preparations, player bonuses and other expenses to motivate the team to achieve the ultimate.

He was convinced the Stars would deliver with good preparation and said his outfit has decided to mobilise a fine support base for the team during the tournament.

"The Black Stars is the biggest brand in Ghana today and they can count on a huge support base awaiting them in South Africa. "A lot of people did not expect this team to do that well in Angola during the Nations Cup but we thought otherwise and they delivered to vindicate our confidence in them. I trust they could go all the way because the group stage will be the most difficult and after that it can be anybody's game."

Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) described the financial injection as timely and said the team would travel to South Africa with their sight firmly planted on the trophy. He said it was not out of wishful thought that the GFA insists the Stars could win the World Cup, insisting that with good preparation plus the team's quality; they are well placed to dazzle the world at the Mundial.
