Golden Sticks Spank Exchequers

Ghana Commercial Bank's Golden Sticks last Saturday began this season's Areeba League on a good footing when the defeated Exchequers of Bank of Ghana 3-1 at the Theodosia Okoh Pitch in Accra.

Winger Joseph Appiah whacked home the opener from a penalty stroke, but the lead was short-lived as Exchequers Joseph Ampoe pulled even.

Appiah restored his side's lead with a personal second from another penalty stroke, while Alex Amoh Quainoo increased the tally for Golden Sticks.

In other games, NDK Financiers thrashed Multistix 6-1, with Citizens beating Veterans 2-1. Trustees defeated Marine Sticks 1-0. In a related development, the ladies league failed to bully off following the security services decision to pull off from this season's league.
