Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – The Premier League Board (PLB) has identified four venues as the most rowdy and notorious venues during the 2010/2011 season.
The quartet includes Golden City Park, Berekum; the Tamale Sports Stadium, Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi and the T&A Park in Tarkwa.
Information gathered by GNA Sports from the PLB report of the just ended season, fingered the four venues for the persistent rowdy conduct of their fans during matches throughout the season.
To confirm the ratings, Berekum Arsenal, who honour their home matches at the Golden City were handed a three-match home ban for crowd violence during one of the matches in the heat of the season.
Due to the ban, Arsenal were relocated to the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast as their punishment, but it did little to make an impact as they managed some convincing wins at their “adopted” home grounds.
The Golden City Park has served as a ‘no go area’ for visiting Clubs since the entry of Berekum Arsenal into the elite division a decade ago.
Relegated BA Stars were also handed a two home match ban for crowd disturbances during a match at the Coronation Park in Sunyani.
In response to making such venues incident-free, the PLB has tasked the Clubs to improve infrastructure to guarantee effective security for the next season.
