Hamburg SV star Gideon Jung has finally admitted his willingness to opt for Germany over Ghana as the West African country has shown no interest in the youngster.

Jung, 21, has declared his intentions of playing for Ghana in the past and his performance for Hamburg in the recently ended German Bundesliga season was expected to earn him recognition from Ghana.

But apparently no Ghana official has made any contact with the midfielder, leaving him with no option but opt to feature for the World Cup winners.

Germany Olympic coach Horst Hrubesch is set to announce his final 18-man squad for August's Rio 2016 Olympic Games and Jung has admitted he will be delighted to make the Germany squad for the games.

Jung told German news outlet Beegedoefee Zeitung he is looking forward to make the grades for the tournament.

"It will be great if I'm going to [Rio]," he declared.

Jung, who play 19 Bundesliga games for Hamburg last season, is currently nursing a back injury problem and as he remains in the treatment room he says his main focus is to regain his fitness.

"Playing at the Olympics is not my top priority but my main priority now is to remain healthy and ready again," he stated.

The 6 ft 2 in midfielder was born to Ghanaian parents in the German city of Dusseldorf but has never played for Germany at any level.
