Beitar Jerusalem youngster, Gideon Akowuah has set sights on making it into the Beitar Jerusalem first team.

Gideon currently plays for the U-19s of Beitar Jerusalem in the Israeli U-19 elite division.

The 18-year-old defensive midfielder joined the Israeli outfit from Sunyani based side Bectero FC in November and has since established himself as a pillar at the heart of midfield.

With eight games played, Gideon has made three assists already for his side and is already looking up to bigger things ahead.

Responding to the narrative of how African players struggle in the early periods in Europe, Gideon admitted how tough it is at the start but also believes it sets the tone for a brighter career.

“It is not always easy at the start because of the weather and having to play under different conditions but I got used to it within a short time.”

According to Gideon, playing for the U-19s offers a lot of opportunity to learn and get use to the European system which means with time he could be ready for the first team.

“Playing weekly gives a lot of confidence and chance to learn more on the field. So far I am enjoying what I do on the field.

“The fans, staff and team mates have been amazing ever since I got here and I hope to give my best at all times.”

Until his move to Israel, the youngster was on trials with Hungarian side Ferencvaros TC earlier in 2018 .He is currently a client of Israeli football agent Noam Shamah who has a host of Ghanaian footballers in his web.
