The Ghana Athletics Association coordinator for foreign-based athletes, Andrew Owusu, has said it will be difficult for Ghana to win medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
With less than 50 days to the multi-sport competition, only three athletes have secured qualification after no athlete qualified at the just ended Africa Athletics Championship in South Africa.
Olympian Owusu believes Ghana’s chances of hauling medals in Brazil are bleak.
“To really get medals means you are part of the top three in the World. Medals are hard to come by because we need to be realistic, where are these athletes in terms of their development trajectory because there is no short cut to development, it's an ongoing process”, he told Starr Sports.
The Rio 2016 Summer Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 5-21.
