BRESCIA strengthened their chances of avoiding relegation from Serie A and increased Piacenza's with a 4-1 victory at Stadio Galleana.

The visitors were dangerously close to the drop zone prior to the contest, but following the rout they now have breathing space between themselves and the bottom four.

The contest began evenly enough with Dario Hubner cancelling out Stephan Appiah's opener, though it was one-way traffic for the remainder of the contest.

Italian legend Roberto Baggio restored the visitors' advantage, and the win was looking good when Luca Toni made it three shortly after the interval.

With the contest entering the closing stages, and the home fans heading for the exit, substitute Igli Tare completed the rout with a last-gasp fourth.
