Ghanaian referees are corrupt - Former GFA boss

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, says referees are solely to blame for the dwindling nature of our game as their corrupt attitude has led to failure of our football.

Ghanaian referees have been in the limelight in recent times considering the poor performance in the Ghana Premier League with many allegedly involved in corrupt practices that has derailed the progress of the local game.

But according to the board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, referees have not helped the development of the game with their actions and has predicted doom for Ghanaian football if stringent punishments aren’t meted out to non-performing referees.

“The lopsidedness of football in the country now can solely be blamed on referees because they are corrupt to the core. The cause of the failure of our football now is the referees and with this kind of attitude they can never came anywhere near to the limelight of FIFA football.

“How can people fill the stadium with this kind of attitude from the referees and if we don’t take care the nation will certainly disappear from the map of football in the world.

“Modern technology remains the only way to combat corrupt match officials which can determine their earnings, “Dr. Tamakloe told Asempa FM.
