Ghanaian is new Kickboxing world champion

Reliable news reaching SportsInGhana.com indicate that another Ghanaian has shot himself to fame in the world of kick boxing.

Super Welter weight K-1 fighter, Alhassan Okine won the World Kick Boxing Federation (WKBF) title when he defeated Ben “Red Rider” Burrage of Australia on Friday February 25, 2011 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to 2010 SWAG kick boxer of the year, Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai who is also president of ISKA Ghana, his colleague took out the opponent in round two.

He described the title fight as one sided as the Ghanaian proved too tough for the Australian and hoped the media in Ghana will carry more of their programmes.

Nii Saka I, Mankralo of Sakaman in Accra also a former kick boxer and named best in the year 2010 following winning a bronze medal at the World Championship in Scotland last year said lack of sponsors and the inability of the Ghana Federation to organize fights has been the bane of the fighters in Ghana.
