Ghanaian striker Samuel Afum scored on his competitive debut for FC Ilves as they walloped KuPS 4-1 in the Finnish Suomen Cup at the Tammelan Stadion.

The Yellow and Black lads proved too strong for their opponents after former Inter Allies centre-back Baba Mensah put them ahead with a thumping header in the 36th minute.

Ilves extended their lead just a minute after recess courtesy Samuel Afum before Matias Ojala added the third of the afternoon.

KuPS were handed a slim hope after Ville Saxman pulled a goal back for the visitors but the hosts restored their three-goal cushion via Janne-Pekka Laine in the 83rd minute.

Afum joined Ilves in the ongoing January window after failing to establish himself at Serbian side Spartak Subotica.

The former Hearts of Oak hitman failed to score in the seven games he featured for the club.
