Ghanaian duo Aidoo and Paintsil crowned Belgium champions with KRC Genk

Ghanaian international duo Joseph Aidoo and Joseph Paintsil were crowned Belgium champions after winning the Jupile League with KRC Genk on Thursday evening.

The Blue and Whites collected 52 points after their goalless encounter with Standard Liege to be crowned champions in a season that was characterized apt dominance.

Genk had already won the title about two weeks ago after drawing 1-1 with Anderlecht but were crowned at a coronation after their game with Standard.

The draw was all that KRC Genk needed to secure the title which they are winning for the fourth time.

The two Ghanaians lasted the entire duration of the game against Standard Liege.

Aidoo made 31 appearances in the season for KRC Genk with just a goal as a center back while Paintsil who joined from Hungarian side Ferencvaros scored three goals from 25 games.

Genk are emerging as Belgium’s champion for the fourth time in his history.

Aidoo has been invited by Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah in the 29-man provisional squad for the training camp in Dubai ahead of the 2019 AFCON tournament to be staged in Egypt.
