Ghanaian youngster Thomas Partey made a winning debut for Atletico Madrid since his summer switch from Almeria. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder starred for Diego Someone’s side in the Spanish Copa Del Rey. Thomas racked home 4 odd goals in 32 outings for Almeria in the Spanish La Liga to earn a dream move to the Vincente Calderon but has remained a squad player for the 2014 la liga champions.

The attacking midfielder replaced Luciano Vietto for Athletico at home to Espanyol in the Spanish league for his first-ever appearance in the colours of his new paymasters. He was however named in the starting XI by Diego Simeone away to Reus Deportivo in the last 32 of the Copa Del Rey. The Odumasi-Krobo born midfielder grabbed the opportunity with open arms as he bossed affairs from the middle of the park in a 2-1 away win for the Rojiblancos.

The ex-Almeria man spanned the full 90 minutes as goals from Lucianno Vietto and Saul Niguez cancelled out Barrera’s stunner for the lower league side. Thomas will be hoping for a more playing time when Atletico heads to Granada over the weekends in the Spanish La Liga.
