Ex-Ghana defender Sam Johnson feels the Black Stars will struggle against Egypt in the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Egypt without star striker Asamoah Gyan.

The 30-year-old has been ruled out of the crunch tie due to injury.

The striker, on loan from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, is expected to be on the shelf for an extended period of time after picking his latest setback.

And former Ghana international Sam Johnson fears the absence of former Sunderland hitman could prove disastrous.

“It is very sad, I think is going to be a big blow for us,” he spoke to Kasapa FM.

“Gyan has been our reliable goal scorer, and we know he can get goals on a good day.

“It is not good news for us. This is a crucial game for us, and we need a player like Asamoah Gyan.

“It is very unfortunate we will be missing his services, but let’s hope for the best.”

The striker, who has scored 48 goals for Ghana, unavailable for the clash.
