Ghana to play Nigeria On Independence Day

Odegbami, Amasiemeka lead Nigeria's All Star team to Accra

A TOTAL number of 40 ex-international players from Nigeria will depart Lagos on Thursday March 4, to keep a date with their Ghanaian counterpart in the international friendly tie as part of activities for the Ghana Independence Day celebration.

The encounter, which is scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, will signal the commencement of the Independence Day celebration of Ghana.

Former Super Eagles captain Segun Odegbami and fellow teammate, Adokiye Amasiemeka will be leading a joint team of 40 ex-Nigerian international players.

While Odegbami is leading 25 players of the Lagos All Stars team, Amasiemeka is leading 14 of his members from the Port Harcourt zone.

The 40-member team will leave Lagos by road on Thursday.

Among the players listed for the cracker are "block buster", Aloysius Atuegbu, Mike Onyemachara, Philip Odogwu, Yomi Okpakunle and Yomi Pearse.

The Ghanaian All-Star team will storm Lagos for the return leg match on October 1, when Nigeria will be celebrating its 44th Independent Day.

A member of the Nigerian All Stars team told The Guardian yesterday that they would beat the Ghanaians in front of their supporters come March 6.

"Our Super Falcons shocked the Ghanaian female national team recently. The Nigerians All Star team will give them another shocker on Saturday right in front of their supporters," the member vowed.
