European giants Germany have taken a major step to secure Ghana-target Gideon Jung by naming him in their provisional squad for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The 21-year-old has drawn the attention of the Germany U23 national team manager Horst Hrubesch who has included him in his provisional squad for the game.

Jung has precociously started 8 games for Bruno Labbadia's Hamburg SV in the Bundesliga this season.

The Ghana FA's vice President George Afriyie blankly claimed the Black Stars coach could hand a call-up to the midfield genius who was born to Ghanaian parents in Germany.

While the midfielder, cast in the mode of Manchester City's Yaya Toure, has openly expressed his interest of representing Ghana at the senior level, there has been no apparent action from the Ghana FA.

Germany's U23 coach Hrubesch explained his decision to include Jung in his preliminary squad.

"He had a great start in the first round with little trouble, but he's doing well now but very good. I like him. We observe Gideon intensively," he said.

And, Jung looks ready, feels ready to grab his opportunity to making the German squad for the games but insist his focus is on Hamburg's campaign now.

"Of course, that would be nice," he says. "But primarily I concentrate on HSV. We must continue to fight for every point after the winter break. Since I cannot allow me to think of other things "Nevertheless." It's nice to know that you have me in mind. Everything else is then obtained. "
