Ghana to host Uganda on September 5 in Kumasi

The Black Stars will play their opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, 5 September, Africanfootball.com has reported.

The last encounter between the two sides at the same venue was in 2005 in the second stage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Charles Amoah scored for the Black Stars and Assan Pitcen Bajope netted the equalizer for the Cranes.

“Our next match will be against Togo on the 10th of September and so the players need some rest before the match,” Ghana FA General Secretary Emmanuel Gyimah told Africanfootball.com

“The coach prefers Kumasi and that has been the reason to play the match there.”

Uganda coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, who wants to play a friendly before the match, will now be equipped to prepare adequately for the huge task.

Ghana are free to play matches at home despite the widespread of the deadly Ebola disease in the West African sub-region.
