The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) on Wednesday announced it will host the International Cricket Council (ICC) world cup league division three tournament in Accra from February 23 to 28.
"We want to hand down a successful cricket tournament," Dr. William Ampofo, Chairman of GCA, told Xinhua in a telephone interview.
He relished the immense benefits Ghana would gain from hosting the 6-day competition such as the upgrading of the Ghana's Oval where the competition takes place.
"We hope to improve our facilities by hosting the event and boost interest in the sport in schools and colleges in Ghana," he added.
The tourney, under the aegis of the ICC, Africa Cricket Association and the National Sports Council of Ghana, would feature seven African teams including Rwanda, Gambia, Lesotho, Morocco, Mali, Cameroon and Seychelles.
