‘Ghana should exploit Gomaa’s weaknesses’

Ghanaian winger Francis Akwaffo says the Black Stars attackers can exploit the flaws of veteran defender Wael Gomaa to record a win against Egypt on Tuesday.

Akwaffo who plays for Al-Ittihad Al-Sakndary in the Egyptian top-flight says the 38-year-old lacks pace and can easily concede penalties.

“I play in the same league with Gomaa and what I can tell our attackers especially the smallish and very fast Waris is that when he gets the ball he should run at Gomaa.

“He is good in the air but very poor on the ground, he has tired legs and cannot run so when you run at him and beat him, the only thing he will do is to bring you down,” the former Kotoko player told Goal Ghana.

“We can exploit his deficiencies to good use. Coach Appiah and Maxwell Konadu have coached me before and they are very good, I know they will tell Waris.

“Their defense is very porous and they have always conceded goals,” Akwaffo added.

Ghana lock horns with Egypt on Tuesday at the Baba Yara stadium in the first leg of the 2014 FIFA World cup qualifying play-off.
