Black Stars midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah has disclosed that he is yet to recover from the shock and disappointment that came with Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

The Black Stars missed out on a fourth-consecutive World Cup after finishing third in Group E of the African qualifying series, having drawn all home games.

Kwadwo Asamoah who was part of the teams that represented Ghana in the last two World Cups claims that Ghana’s absence in Russia is a huge blow not only to Ghanaians but to the players as well.

Speaking to GhanaWeb TV on the sidelines of the Calcio Trade Ball, the 29-year-old midfielder disclosed that some of his teammates at Juventus who are aware of Ghana’s status in world football felt worried by the Black Stars’ dwindling fortunes and came to him for answers on why Ghana is not going to be present at the Mundial.

“World Cup is one of the great things as a player to be part of. Even my team, the players that are going to the World Cup, they were like how come Ghana is not part of the World Cup. When they say it, you the player you feel so bad because the World Cup is one of the best tournaments and best competition for each and every player to play in. Even if you don’t have the opportunity of winning it, it’s something you want to be part of, and so it’s so sad that Ghana is not part of the World Cup. Hopefully we will go for the next one, he said.

Kwadwo Asamoah also declared his support for the five nations representing Africa in the tournament that kicks off on Thursday, June 14, 2018. He is confident that the five teams will give a good account themselves and shed some positive light on Africa football.

“I can’t tip any team but I know some of the African team are going to do well in this world cup”, he concluded.
