Ghanaian sprinter William Opare delivered an outstanding performance to win the men’s 400 metres at the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Angelo State University athlete clocked an impressive 45.67 seconds to take gold, continuing his remarkable run of form this season.

With the performance, Opare broke his own Ghana national indoor record and also set a new personal best, further cementing his status as one of Ghana’s rising stars in track and field.

Opare, a 2021 graduate of Ghana Senior High School, has been steadily making a name for himself on the American collegiate athletics circuit.

His victory at the championships marks a significant milestone in his career and highlights the growing impact of Ghanaian athletes competing in international and collegiate competitions.
