Black Satellites striker Daniel Lomotey is the leader of the goalscoring chart at the 2019 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Niger.

The 19-year old WAFA striker needed just the opening game at the competition to jump to the summit of top scorers at the African youth championship after racking up a brace against Burkina Faso on Monday to give Ghana a 2-0 win.

The teenager demonstrated his innate goalscoring talent as he made the most of the Burkinabe defence who could not police the bulky Ghanaian attacker.

Lomotey capitalized on two defensive blunders by the opponent’s defence to hit a double.

Behind the Satellites’ center forward on the pack are six other players who have scored a goal each in the tournament so far.

They are Boubacar Goumey of Niger, South Africa ‘s Siphesihle Mkhize, Nigerian duo Yahaya Nazifi and Effiom Maxwell. Lopy and Ndaw of Senegal also have netted a goal each.

Lomotey and his teammates have started well in their bid to drag Ghana through the group stages as the 2009 FIFA World Cup winners seek to qualify for the Poland U-20 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana meet Senegal – who beat Mali- in arguably the match of the tournament on Wednesday and Lomotey will be expected to repeat what he has started.
